Muslim Aid Welcomes Confiscation Order by Woolwich Crown Court

This was in relation to last year’s conviction of individuals illegally raising funds for terrorist activity by fraudulently using Muslim Aid’s name and branded property.

The Order, issued on 9 January 2014 required six individuals from Birmingham to pay back the funds they stole from charities after posing as official collectors.

A Spokesperson for the Charity said, “We are pleased that proceeds of the confiscation order will be given to the two affected charities, one of which is Muslim Aid. We are grateful to the police who continued with their investigations until they had tracked the money down. The funds amounting to 80% of the £33,000 collected form their seized assets will be spent by Muslim Aid for helping the needy in the UK, including the homeless and the hungry.”

Muslim Aid is grateful to the public for their understanding and continued support for the Charity's humanitarian work.
