Knife attack at northern France school kills teacher

A knife attack at a school in northern France killed a teacher, local media reported on Friday. The attack that took place at the Gambetta High School in the northern city of Arras also injured at least two others, according to the broadcaster BFMTV. The 20-year-old perpetrator and his brother are under arrest, it reported. According to the broadcaster, the perpetrator, a former student of the high school, was already known for his extremist views and was under surveillance by the Directorate General of Internal Security (DGSI). Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, and Education Minister Gabriel Attal arrived in the city and visited the scene where the incident took place. Macron denounced the attack as a cowardly and savage assassination. "France is once again struck by the barbarity of terrorism. But we stand together," Macron told reporters.
