8 people killed in Iran's earthquake

At least eight people were killed and 45 others injured in the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that hit southern Iran on Thursday, semi-official ISNA news agency reported. A number of buildings in the area were damaged, said Hossein Derakhshan, the spokesman for the relief and rescue organization of Iran's Red Crescent Society, adding that telecommunication and power systems of some regions, disrupted by the earthquake, were restored. The 5.7-magnitude earthquake, with a depth of 5 km and the epicenter at 29.29 degrees north latitude and 51.37 degrees east longitude, hit Borazjan city in Iran's southern Bushehr province on Thursday at 17:21 local time (1351 GMT).
