2 French students, who were taken into custody for joining Taksim Gezi Park sit-in, were released on Saturday thanks to efforts of Turkey’s European Union (EU) Affairs Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis. The procedures, which were launched to deport the two French citizens who were in Turkey within the scope of Erasmus exchange programme, were halted with Bagis' stepping in. The students, who receive education in the journalism department in Turkey, were taken into custody during the Taksim Gezi Park sit-in protests. The prosecutor released them after they were interrogated.
