Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Enfield North MP, Nick de Bois, today launched the Help4Highstreets campaign to reduce business rates and encourage people to shop and trade across the borough of Enfield.
The Mayor visited Mantella Jewellery in Enfield Town, before sharing posters and information with the general public. He finished his visit by doing the same with local shops and traders on Lancaster Road.
The Mayor was joined by Nick de Bois MP along with local councillors and candidates as they asked businesses, shops, and members of the public to display posters and support the Help4Highstreets campaign in the run up to Small Business Saturday on 7th December.

Nick de Bois MP commented:
“ Having set up my own business from scratch, and faced the sorts of problems out local businesses are facing I am keen to help persuade more people to shop locally when they can and help drive down business rates.
“Right now, business rates are too high. We should be helping not hindering shop owners with hefty rates demands. It is for this reason I launched the Help4Highstreets campaign to convince Enfield Council to use the powers this Government granted them to lower business rates.
“I very pleased Mayor Boris Johnson was here to help launch this campaign and encourage everyone who wants to help their local shops to sign the petition on help4highstreets.org.uk and display our posters in the run up to Small Business Saturday on December 7th.” ,

The Mayor of London's quote for the Enfield Town/Lancaster Road visit yesterday:
“I am delighted to visit Enfield Town again and the shops on Lancaster Road to launch Nick de Bois’ Help4Highstreets campaign. Over the last five years I've worked hard to revitalise London's high streets and help local businesses. Lowering business rates in Enfield would be another great step forwards.
“I am also happy to visit Mantella Jewellery again after the shop was ransacked during the riots. Londoners like him have shown real enterprise and grit, and how with hard work and determination business owners can overcome the obstacles thrown in their way.
“Help4Highstreets’ mission to lower business rates will help people like Mr Mantella and make sure their hard work pays off. That's why as a supporter of Enfield's high streets, I encourage local people to sign Nick de Bois’ petition on help4highstreets.org.uk ”
