Bennett will be joined by Jean Lambert MEP and food blogger and campaigner Jack Monroe in north London on Monday (May 4th 2015) Bennett: “As a migrant I utterly reject those who try and divide us” Natalie Bennett, Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, will visit a community centre in north London on Monday (May 4th 2015) to deliver a speech on immigration. Bennett will be joined by Jean Lambert, Green MEP for London and Green Party Immigration spokesperson (1), and Jack Monroe, food blogger, journalist and campaigner (2). Monroe recently became a member of the Green Party.
She was previously a suporter of the Labour Party (3). In the speech, Bennett is expected to say: “Elections should be about discussion and disagreement - but on the topic of immigration we've seen the entire political establishment attempting to sound 'tough' in an attempt to stave off the perceived threat from UKIP. “As a migrant, and someone who loves this country for the tolerance it has shown those arriving on its shores, I've watched in horror as politicians line up to blame those not born here for failures in Government policy. “And as a migrant I utterly reject those who try and divide us by our country of birth. I may have been born on the other side of the world, but that doesn't mean that I don't love this country”.
