Remembrance Sunday services and parades in Enfield

Details of parades and memorial services to commemorate Remembrance Sunday have been confirmed by Enfield Council. The events will commemorate the sacrifices of those who lost their lives in the two World Wars and more recent world conflicts and will remember those who gave their lives for their country.Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion and Enforcement, Cllr Gina Needs, said: “I’d like to invite all residents and the wider local community to join us to commemorate Remembrance Sunday, so we can pay our respects to those who paid the ultimate price and sacrificed their lives for our freedom.“We owe a tremendous debt to all of the brave people who defended our country, and to the Armed Forces who continue to protect us today and keep us safe from conflict.”

The Remembrance Sunday parades and services taking place in the borough are:

Edmonton Green

Edmonton War Memorial, N9 0TZ.

10.35am - The parade leaves the car park in St Martin’s Road, Edmonton and turns left along Monmouth Road, onto Hertford Road, and along the front of the bus terminal to the War Memorial.

10.45am - The parade assembles at Edmonton Green War Memorial. 

10.45am to 11am - Memorial service begins.

11am to 11.02am - Two-minute silence.

11.02am to 11.20am - Memorial service continues.

11.20am to 11.30am - Parade leaves the memorial and musters at Balham Road.

11.30am - End of service. The parade will fall out and disperse.

Enfield Town

Chase Side/Windmill Hill War Memorial, EN2 6SG.

2.35pm - March to Enfield War Memorial from the Royal British Legion, led by the Stow Pipers.

2.45pm - Arrive at War Memorial.

3pm - A Service of Remembrance where wreaths will be laid, led by the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Enfield, followed by other dignitaries and individuals.

3.30pm - Participants will disperse from the memorial and will muster in Windmill Hill before marching through the town centre to Enfield Civic Centre, led by the Stow Pipers.

4pm - The parade will be dismissed from Enfield Civic Centre.

Southgate

St Andrew’s Church, 184 Chase Side, Southgate N14 5HN.

10am - Service starts at St Andrew’s Church.

10.45am - Act of Remembrance including wreath laying.

11.15am - Service closes and then on to Southgate Royal British Legion for further prayers and wreath laying.
