Enfield Coronavirus testing site to open at Raynham Road Car Park

Raynham Road Car Park in Edmonton, N18 2SJ, will be converted into a testing site, with a soft launch starting on Wednesday 9 September. It is expected to ramp up to over 360 tests per day. There will be Turkish, Somali Polish and Bengali speakers on site to help those who do not have English as a first language. Residents who require a test should book at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test before turning up at Raynham Road. The area will not function as a car park while it’s being used astesting site.

The other Enfield testing sites are at Lodge Drive Car Park, Palmers Green, N13 5UB and Edmonton Green Shopping Centre (north car park), N9 0SN.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health, Cllr Mahtab Uddin, said: “Enfield Council has, from the start of the pandemic, responded swiftly to the needs of the community and we have advocated that more testing is needed to protect our residents, particularly those working in front-line services. I am pleased that we are able to accommodate another testing site and would urge anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 to get themselves seen to as soon as possible.”

The symptoms to look out for are:

• A new and continuous cough

• A high temperature

• A loss or change in taste and/or smell

Cllr Uddin added: “There is currently a small, but growing number of positive COVID-19 cases in Enfield, particularly among young people. We also have concerns for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups and the pandemic has exposed and exacerbated longstanding inequalities for these groups. Please visit one of our sites if you are displaying any of the symptoms listed and stay at home until you get your results. By working together, we can protect our communities and keep our loved ones safe.”
