Sunglasses

Summer is approaching in the mist, and I just read an article mentioning sunglasses and Erdem Moralioglu, the Turkish fashion designer. He has expressed how important sunglasses play a part when he is designing. Erdem, for those who do not know, actually designed a range of sunglasses for Cutler and Gross' spring/summer 2010 collection. Apparently sunglasses are soon set to play a big role in the fashion world and not just as an accessory but as a wardrobe must have.

It actually surprises me how we don't see many people wearing sunglasses or even carrying a pair. People just seem to buy them when summer approaches or when they've read a magazine feature about summer must haves. I think sunglasses should be treated like an umbrella; they should be a handbag essential. In fact, a pair of sunglasses should be treated more significantly than an umbrella. I know, for example, in Europe, the sun makes more appearances than the rain. Sunglasses are for every season not just for summer. It's not only about the sun though, a pair of sunglasses have so many more uses. 

Sunglasses can add the je ne sai quoi to an outfit. A lazy Sunday composed of not being bothered to properly get ready can easily be fixed with just popping on those shades. They can simply make anyone look glamorous and have have that movie star look. An outfit not accessorized rarely looks complete and so often people are missing those glasses that give the finishing touch.

I find it a common misconception that people often wear sunglasses to pose around in. Whilst this may be the case for many, a lot of people opt to wear them to simply hide and out of feeling shy. If anyone has seen the movie Big Daddy, and how the sunglasses are referred to as magic sunglasses that make one invisible, they will know what I mean. We must not forget though the most vital use for sunglasses and that is to protect ourselves and our health from the sun.
