More and more people are turning to the internet for dating. What might have once seemed to be an uncool tool to use to find a lover, the internet, now seems to be a hip place to find a partner. No really, I know plenty of cool people who are doing just this. And let's face it, sometimes there is something more exciting about hearing a friend finding love on the net; it's different and intriguing.
We live in a world that seems to be obsessed with smartphones. People seem to be consistently glued to their phones. It's no wonder that lots of peeps have turned to the internet to find love. And not only is the web full of dating sites but there's also apps that one can download to find the perfect partner. One of those apps is called Grindr. Incase you haven't heard of this app, it's an app in which gay and bi men can use to communicate with each other. Yes, although Grindr is known as a dating app, it's also seen as a useful app for gay and bi men to freely express themselves and communicate with each other.
The app is simply an app just like many other apps. However, in September, the Turkish government decided to ban Grindr being used in Turkey. Currently, gay rights groups are working with Grindr to fight the ban. An online petition has even been set up, however, Grindr still remains banned to this day. It's not just gay rights groups that are angered by the ban though, many others who care about social freedom are enraged about what has happened. Many query what further bans could take place. The banning of Candy Crush? Who knows? =
