Cancellation of the clauses 5 and 6 in Turkish Criminal Code (TCC), article 230, titled “Marrying to more than one person, fraudulent marriage, religious ceremony”, only means cancellation of the rights given to Turkish women under the Turkish Civil Law, disposal of the ‘statutory marriage’ institution, and purging of the rights (women) won through the Turkish Constitution. This decision signifies an effort to eradicate Secular Turkish Republic and the superiority of the Turkish society among the other countries with Muslim majorities. This worrying and regretful decision of the Constitutional Court has shaken our trust for justice and law from its foundation. Türker Ertürk-Istanbul
