Become a Take 12 Ambassador in Hackney

Funded by the London Legacy Development Corporation, Take 12 Challenge is working with Hackney Council and is looking for enthusiastic individuals between the ages of 16 and 25 to engage, persuade and influence people who live and work in Hackney to get physically active and to access the fantastic open spaces and sporting facilities on that are right on their doorstep.

The Take 12 Challenge will be providing group training sessions to help the successful applicants plan the marketing strategies and methods that can be used in and around their local communities. The Ambassadors will be provided with on-going support throughout the three month period with an e-mentoring system, culminating with guidance on incorporating their role into their CV and experience profile. High-performing Ambassadors could have the chance to pass on their skills and experiences to the next wave of Ambassadors to be appointed in the summer.

Who better to get in and amongst residents of the borough than those who know it best! Cllr Jonathan McShane, Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care and Culture said:  “Hackney Ambassadors is a great opportunity for young people to showcase their passion and commitment to the local community and sport. Being an Ambassador is a chance to develop your skills and I would strongly encourage all who are interested to find out more and get involved.”

Dennis Hone, Chief Executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation said: “The Hackney Ambassadors programme is a great way for people living close to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to get involved in legacy now and help us to encourage people in Hackney to get more fit and active. The Ambassadors will get some experience and help with their CV whilst putting something back in to their local community. Through the Take 12 Challenge we hope to reach 12,000 people and encourage them to start being more active. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is going to be a fantastic new part of the city, we are on track to deliver a top visitor destination and a great legacy for east London.”

If you want to apply  [email protected] Deadline for applications is midday Friday 15th February.

The Take 12 Challenge will support 12,000 people across the six host boroughs (additional boroughs are Barking and Dagenham and Greenwich) to do 12 hours of sport or physical activity or cover 12km in distance.
