Israel says it targeted 60 Gaza sites Saturday

WORLD

JERUSALEM (AA) – The Gaza-based movement Hamas had fired 30 rockets on Israel all through Saturday, the Israeli army said late in the day. It added that it struck as many as 60 targets in the Gaza Strip since midnight. The Israeli army noted on its Twitter account that 24 Hamas-fired rockets landed in Israel, whereas four rockets fell inside Gaza. The army did not, however, mention where the 30th rocket fell. İt said Hamas had fired 100 rockets on Israel in total since a three-day humanitarian ceasefire came to an end in Gaza at 08:00am on Friday. The army added that it targeted 120 targets inside Gaza and nine activists during the same period of time. Army spokesman Avichay Adraee said on his Twitter account that the Israeli army had targeted three activists at noon on Saturday. He added that a fourth activist was targeted one hour ago. Earlier on Saturday, a Palestinian was killed by an Israeli strike, raising Gaza's death toll to 1907 from Israel's strikes since July 7.
At least 64 Israeli soldiers have also been killed in battles with Palestinian fighters in the Gaza Strip and three civilians by rocket fire, according to Israeli figures.
Israel resuamed its airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Friday after the expiry of a three-day ceasefire with Palestinian factions.
The Gaza Strip, home to 1.8 million Palestinians, has been reeling under a crippling Israeli blockade since 2006, badly affecting livelihoods in the seaside enclave.
