French football star Paul Pogba became the most expensive signing in history Tuesday when Manchester United agreed a 105 million euro ($116.4 million) deal with Italy's Juventus.
The 23-year-old left the English club on a free transfer in the summer of 2012. In addition to the initial fee, there will be bonuses related to his performance on the pitch.
The midfielder's deal surpassed the money paid for Real Madrid duo Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo -- previously the world's largest signings. Bale joined from Tottenham Hotspur for 101 million euros ($112.1 million) in 2013 while Ronaldo signed from United for 94 million euro ($104.3 million) in 2009.
