According to a statement made on the club's website, Silva signed a new deal keeping him at the club until 2019. Speaking after the signing ceremony, the 28-year-old expressed pleasure at playing for the club. Manchester City's Spanish international Silva had been purchased from Spanish La Liga's Valencia for £24 million in 2010.
