Turkish and Crimean parliament speakers meet

POLITICS

AVA, Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek met Vladimir Konstantinov, Speaker of Parliament of Autonomous Republic of Crimea, on Saturday.

Cicek recalled that there was a decision made at Crimean Parliament on the Armenian allegations regarding 1915 incidents, noting that the decision was promised to be abolished after 2012 elections, but no initiative was made to abolish it. "Parliaments should not make decisions about historical events. It would be right to abolish this decision immediately. We don't have any concerns about our history. However, let's leave this matter to scientists and historians. Politicians should do their own job," said Cicek.

Cicek said that opening a consulate general in Crimea would be very beneficial.

Cicek also held a meeting with Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea Victor Plakida.
