Pakistan's ex-president returns from exile

PN, Pakistan's former President Pervez Musharraf on Sunday returned to his country after more than four years of exile.

Pakistan's former President Pervez Musharraf on Sunday returned to his country after more than four years of exile. Musharraf's plane landed at Karachi's Jinnah International airport, which was surrounded by Pakistani army troops amid tightened security measures. Musharraf was not allowed to leave the airport due to security concerns. Taliban has sent a video to media outlets after Musharraf announced his plans to return, threatening to use "every possible way" to kill the former president. Musharraf is expected to announce his candidacy for elections scheduled for May. The ex-army chief headed a military takeover in 1999 in a bloodless coup. He left Pakistan in 2008 and settled in Britain.

He was charged of being involved in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in 2007 and a Pakistani court dropped those charges last week, opening for Musharraf the way to return
