PKK commander declares ceasefire

In the video message released during the Nowruz holiday celebration in the German city of Bonn, PKK leader Murat Karayilan announced, "We declare a ceasefire as of March 23." Murat Karayilan, among the PKK leaders in the Qandil Mountains, responded to PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan's letter during the Nowruz holiday celebration in the German city of Bonn.
 
In the area where "Freedom for Ocalan, status for Kurds" banners were hung, participants chanted slogans while carrying pictures of Ocalan. In the posted video message, published by Nuce TV along with the celebration images, Karayilan states in his Kurdish speech, "We declare a ceasefire as of March 23. If Parliament and the government organize a commission and prepare a legal basis, we will also withdraw."
