The exhibition, more accessible than ever before, received thousands of views and garnered interest on international platforms. Choosing from a great selection of over 140 artworks from over 70 artists, the final exhibition was comprised of 88 art pieces from 51 artists. Within the exhibition, each artist was given an online space to display their artwork and delve into the work they had submitted and their background as a creator. The Exhibition was launched with an opening ceremony which was attended by the successful artists and important figures that included the Ambassador of Turkey to the UK, H. E. Mr Umit Yalcin; President of Yunus Emre Institute, Prof Dr. Seref Ates; the Turkish Republic Consul General, Mr Bekir Utku Atahan; Director of Yunus Emre Institute in London, Dr Mehmet Karakus; as well as the artist juries Zeynep Iqbal, Nilay Islek and Cevdet Akman.
Featuring a wide variety of artistic styles and mediums, this exhibition was founded to encourage emerging and established artists of the UK-based Turkish community to form supportive networks between them as well as connect Turkish artists to art-seekers.
Alongside the works of talented artists, the past 3 exhibitions have clearly displayed the Turkish artistic community’s unwavering appreciation for art and culture and its abundant potential in both artistic talent and being the strongest pillar in the excellent bilateral relations between Turkey and the United Kingdom. Tailing on the back of this success, this year’s exhibition will continue to come alive on the online space and reach people across the world. From traditional Turkish art to photography, from digital art to short film and performances, the Turkish Community Art Exhibition again welcomes all forms of creative works for those in and adjacent to the Turkish community in the UK!
The artworks displayed will be selected by a jury made up of important names, including, the Turkish Republic’s Consul General for London, Bekir Utku Atahan and Dr Mehmet Karakuş as well as 5 UK-based Turkish artists.
